Sampath, a former Sinhalese language teacher and a dedicated author of series of Sinhalese books, founded STA (Sinhalese Translation Agency) , in 1982 after having worked for more than 16 years as a translator, interpreter, and project manager for various companies in New York City and London.

Before moving to the Netherlands, he was employed as a translator of local and international news and a feature writer for English speaking media at two leading Media companies in Sri Lanka.

Sampath holds a Sinhalese language and literature degree in University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka .He is fluent in Sinhalese , English and Dutch and has a working knowledge of Spanish and German.
